Rīgas piena kombināts JSC exists already more than 80 years. It was founded in 1927 under the name Rīgas piena centrāle. The range of products produced was very diverse for that time: milk, butter, casein, sweet and sour cream as well as ice-cream. The butter was produced to be exported to Denmark, Great Britain and Germany. In 1945 the company started to produce processed cheese.  The enterprise got its current name in 1963 when a new plant Rīgas piena kombināts Nr. 2 was opened at Bauskas Street 180. The range of the products initially included milk, kefir, sweet and sour cream as well as curds.

In 1964 children's food was added, but in 1971 the first ice-cream factory in Latvia was launched. The assortment was expanded then up to 100 various types of dairy products, including ionized milk, curdled milk, ryazhenka, joghurt, curds, sweet and sour cream, cottage cheese, processed cheese, cottage cheese dessert and ice-cream. In 1990 the new whole-milk factory was launched built after a design of Finnish experts. In 1991 a joint-stock company Rīgas piena kombināts was founded.
In 1995 a Tetra Pak line was installed for the production of aseptic milk "Lāse".
In 1997 Ave lat Group becomes the main shareholder of the Rīgas piena kombināts JSC, but in 2000 - Baltijas Lāse JSC.

Currently Rīgas piena kombināts JSC is the largest and the most contemporary milk-processing enterprise in Latvia. The ice-cream factory of Rīgas piena kombināts JSC is one of the leading enterprises of its kind in our country.
