Ice-Cream POLS – Leader of June
The sales results of JSC "Rīgas piena kombināts" (RPK) in June in the segment of ice-cream confirm, that the absolute leader is the ice-cream POLS, which has been retaining the leading role for already 40 years.
The sales volumes of the biggest Latvian ice-cream producer "Rīgas piena kombināts" in June, 2011, in comparison with the previous year increased in general by 19%, which is by 9% more than it was planned. The definite leader is the ice-cream POLS, the sale of which in comparison with the year 2010 has grown by 36%. The sales volumes of the well-known brands TIO and Ekselence have increased by 29%. Thus "Rīgas piena kombināts" holds the stable leader's position in the ice-cream market in Latvia. The most successful was the second week of June, when during one day, 70 tones of ice-cream were sold.
The success is mainly connected with the fact, that we managed very successfully to begin a new ice-cream season by extending the brand Ekselence. The chairwoman of "Rīgas piena kombināts" Inara Driksna notes: „This year, we began the production of a new type of Ekselence full-cream ice with a little spoon in the packing of 350ml; 100 thousands Euro are invested in the technological equipment and modernization of this production, as well as we began the production of „Ekselence de luxe" marzipan ice-cream and the ice-cream with the taste of cheese cake in big cones. Also the fact, that the buyers still more and more frequently choose the Latvian ice-cream - so called, proven values, has provided, in general, the significant growth of the sales volumes".
As it was announced before, The Nielsen Company's information on the retail sale turnover in lats for the year 2010 confirms, that JSC „Rīgas piena kombināts" is the biggest ice-cream producer in Latvia with the total market share - 42%.
The chairwoman of the board of the enterprise Inara Driksna draws the conclusions: „We are glad, that the buyers choose the ice-cream, produced in Latvia. And it goes without saying, that POLS has such success, because the recipe of this ice-cream has come to us from 1971, and it, in fact, is one of the oldest ice-creams in Latvia. This ice-cream isn't only an ice-cream, but it arouses the associations in many buyers' mind about the lovely and joyful days of childhood and youth; this ice-cream is very significant for those buyers, who remember those times, when just ice-cream on a stick in chocolate icing was a special novelty and delicacies".
